The system (100) has a location device (104) arranged in a seat of a vehicle and including a wireless communication interface (103). A central controller (108) of the vehicle includes a computer processor and a logic part (110) to be executed by the processor. The logic part is configured to implement a process to receive a request from an end user device (102) e.g. smartphone, to implement end user-configured settings for an electronic component that services the location in the vehicle corresponding to a unique identifier and to activate the electronic component based on the settings. The electronic component is selected from one of seating control system (112), heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (114), entertainment system (116), lighting system (118) and input and/or output component (119). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for implementing in-vehicle functions using short-range communication (2) a computer program product to perform a method for implementing in-vehicle functions using short-range communication.
