The functional unit is placed in a brake caliper of a disk brake for a commercial vehicle, and has two parallel and spaced brake stamps (7), which pass through a closure plate (8) closing a mounting opening of the brake caliper. The functional unit is formed as pre-mounted component assembly of a loss prevention (12) engaging on ball bearings (4) and the closure plate, where the adjuster has a central adjusting spindle (3) that is attached to an intermediate plate (6) carrying the brake stamp in operative connection with a brake lever (1).
