A method and an apparatus for providing a message to a portable terminal capable of changing the advertisement data which is previously stored according to the request of an advertiser are provided to transmit advertisement data to the portable terminal of the user. A memory unit(211) stores a multimedia message. A controller(201) receives the message informing signal from a multimedia message server. The controller determines a message type by confirming a message class field included in the received message notification signal. The controller receives the multimedia message from the multimedia message server if the message type is a reception non-notification message type. The controller stores the received multimedia message to the user without the notice of the reception status. |
