A CLOSURE ASSEMBLY HAVING A SPOUT WITH A THICKER BAND FOR SPOUT DIRECTING 5OF THE DISCLOSURE A closure (20) assembly for a container (19), the container (19) including a raised outlet (27) defining a dispensing opening, includes a closure body (22) having a nestable and extendable spout (31) formed with a generally cylindrical section (53), a frustoconical 10 section (54), and a transitioning region, including an invertible fold (48), located between these two sections so as to enable the closure body (22) to be either nested or extended. The generally cylindrical section (53) defines an outlet opening and a threaded closing cap is assembled to the generally cylindrical section (53) for closing off the outlet opening. A retainer is used for connecting the closure body (22) to the raised outlet wall (27) and the 15 frustoconical section (54) includes a thicker wall portion (76) for enabling the spout (31) to maintain a selected orientation upon deflection into the selected orientation in order to provide directional discharge of the container contents.
