PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly arrange elements constituting pixels, and thereby, for instance, optimize a potential structure of a semiconductor substrate of a solid-state image pickup device having a charge retention section in a pixel.SOLUTION: In the solid-state image pickup device, a charge retention section is arranged in a first direction to a photoelectric conversion section, a floating diffusion region is arranged in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction to the charge retention section through a transfer section, the charge retention section included in a first pixel is arranged between the photoelectric conversion section included in the first pixel and the photoelectric conversion section included in a second pixel, the charge retention section included in the first pixel is covered with a light-shielding section, and the light-shielding section is arranged so as to extend to the upper part of a part of the photoelectric conversion sections included in the first and second pixels. |
