The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for reproducing video data. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of: storing the received video file in a storage format upon receipt of the video file; a step of extracting an encoded video data stream and video data attribute information from the stored video file; a step of extracting samples relevant to an expanded time layer from the extracted video data stream on the basis of the location information of the sample which allows for temporal layer access contained in the video data attribute information; and a step of restoring and reproducing the extracted samples.
