PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact absorber capable of reducing an impact load on a connection member such as a wire rope and having a greater amount of absorption energy. SOLUTION: When a tensile force F acts on a connection member 14b in a situation of (1), an end 31 of a resistor 12 compresses an elastic body 11 to generate reaction, as the resistor 12 moves in the direction of the tensile force F through the connection member 14b. Then, when the tensile force F reaches a prescribed value or higher, the end 31 of the resistor 12 is buried in a through-hole 21 of the elastic body 11 as shown in (2). In this case, a reaction corresponding to the tensile force F is generated by a friction force between the end 31 of the resistor 12 and the through-hole 21 of the elastic body 11. This reaction becomes less than that generated by the compression of the elastic body 11 in the axial direction by the end 31 of the resistor 12. As the resistor 12 becomes movable further in the direction of the tensile force F in this situation, an amount of absorption energy of an impact absorber 10a increases. COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
