发明名称 Improvements in or relating to conveyors for box-wrapping systems
摘要 608,938. Box-making machines. STEVENS, A. H. (Stokes & Smith, Co.). Aug. 30, 1944, No. 16488. [Class 18] [Also in Group XXX] A conveyer for transporting coated wrappers and box blanks to the vicinity of the form block of a wrapping machine comprises at least two, and preferably three, endless belts arranged side-by-side of which one only extends to the transfer station from which the assemblies are fed to the form block structure. Mechanism TG, Fig. 1, of the kind described in Specification 600,724 applies adhesive and adhesively coated tabs T to the wrappers W and delivers them to the conveyer C which carries them to the assembly station AS. At this point an operator places box blanks B upon them which have been bent and delivered by mechanism BM of the kind described in Specification 608,936. The assemblies are then conveyed to a transfer station TS adjacent to the form block 2 of the wrapping machine WM. Since the conveyer C is composed of belts 43, 41, 42. of which only the central belt 41 extends to the proximity of an operator at station TS, this station can be arranged-at such a distance from the path of the block 2 that the operator can transfer an assembly from the conveyer to the wrapping machine without undue exertion. Each belt is perforated and may be of fabric, but preferably is of fabric impregnated with or covered by rubber. The working run of the belt passes over the perforated upper surface of a suction chamber 52, Fig. 5, which is provided with an angularly adjustable transverse valve 70 in order that the suction may be reduced at the delivery end. The other end 53 is pivoted at 51 to the main portion in order that it may be swung upwardly to permit cleaning of the adhesive applying roller. This movement occurs when the frame 56, Fig. 2, which carries the idler roller 55, driving rollers 18, 19 and the wrapper feed rolls 57, 58 is turned about its pivot 59 and the roller 55 engages the underside of the extension 53. The driving roller 18 is made of rubber or other elastic material and is tapered as shown in Fig. 6. Its spindle 77 is mounted in bearings 78 which are pressed downwards by springs 79, the tension of which can be adjusted by screws 80. The roller 19 may be tapered in a complementary manner. At the receiving end the edges of the lower run of each belt are engaged by grooved pulleys. The pulleys 44 for the central belt 41, Fig. 3, are in a plane which is higher than the plane containing the pulleys 45, 46 for the outer belts. At the delivery end the edges of the belt 41 are engaged by pulleys 47, Fig. 5. The return run of each outer belt is passed between pairs of guide pulleys 50 which are mounted in a plane below that of the plane containing the return run of the central belt.
