摘要 The device (10-1) has light source (12) and polarizer (14) that are rotated with respect to each other. A receiver (20-1) measures luminous intensity reflected by polarizer, for producing signal dependent on rotating angle. A light from light source is either polarized/becomes polarized. A reception element that casts shadow (22-1) is positioned in receiver. A position and/or shape of shadow is varied over rotation of 360[deg] . The polarizer takes a form with normal line (N) such that the normal line is positioned at angle (alpha ) to rotating axis (D) that differs from 0[deg] . An independent claim is included for a method for measuring rotating angle of objects rotating with respect to each other.
