PURPOSE: A guide roller is provided to insert a high quality slab produced by a casting machine directly into a rolling heating furnace without any additional labor or cost, thereby improving productivity and reducing production cost. CONSTITUTION: The guide roller comprises a body. The body is rotatable, and formed inside by the axial-directional extension of a cooling water channel which is a transferring route of cooling water. An insulation area is formed on both side edge parts of the body to decrease the cooling speed by the cooling water more than on the center part. The body includes a shaft(330) and at least one roll shell(331a) which is equipped to surround the outer circumferential surface of the shaft. The cooling water channel includes a main cooling water channel(332) formed inside the shaft, and shell cooling channels(334a,334b) formed to be connected to the main cooling water channel in the roll shell. The insulation area is mounted with an insulation member contacted with the shell cooling channels. The insulation member is formed to be contacted to the inner wall or the external wall of the shell cooling channel. The insulation member is formed to be separated from the shell cooling channel in the longitudinal direction or the peripheral direction of the shell cooling channel.
