PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railway vehicle minimizing an influence on a space of a passenger compartment or the front projection area of the vehicle even with a number of battery means for self-travelling installed thereon, and properly keeping the temperature of these battery means. SOLUTION: A battery module M having the battery means and a forced air cooling means (fan motor F) stored integrally in a case while standardizing the specification of the outer shape of the case or an external connection terminal is formed. The plurality of battery modules M are combined in a housing 1 with consideration given to an inside air flow to form a battery unit U, and this battery unit U is installed collectively or dispersively in a recess 11, etc. arranged on the lower side of a seat for an occupant.
