A vacuum cleaner is disclosed. The vacuum cleaner includes a body (B) having a vacuum motor (11) provided therein; a dust collection device (5) provided in the body to collect dust; a dust compression device (7) expandable or contractible selectively; a passage switching device (9) configured to selectively communicate the dust compression device (7) with a low pressure part having a lower pressure than a pressure of the dust collection device (5) and a high pressure part having a higher pressure than a pressure of the dust collection device (5).
