The burner (1) has a flow channel (5) for transporting a gas flow in a combustion chamber (B), where a twisting unit (16) has groups of deflection units (17,18,19) for generating the twist. The deflection units are distributed over the circumference of a flow channel. The latter group of deflection units are held to each other at a support structure in a stationary manner. The support structure is axially displaceable for changing the swirl along the flow channel and is rotatably provided around the longitudinal axis of the flow channel.
