<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which combines a first luminescent material (excitation source) and a second luminescent material (phosphor), each emitting light 350-415 nm, and has high emission intensity. <P>SOLUTION: In a device which combines the first luminescent material (excitation source) and the second luminescent material (phosphor) for each emitting light 350-415 nm, the light emitting device satisfies the following conditions, (A) and/or (B):(A) quantum absorption efficiency α<SB>q</SB>of the phosphor is not less than 0.8; and (B) the product of the quantum absorption efficiency α<SB>q</SB>of the phosphor and internal quantum efficiency η<SB>i</SB>, α<SB>q</SB>×η<SB>i</SB>, is not less than 0.55. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
