<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidation catalyst capable of exhibiting excellent catalytic activity to particulates or high boiling point hydrocarbons in exhaust gas from an internal-combustion engine at lower temperature. <P>SOLUTION: The oxidation catalyst for oxidizing/removing contents in the exhaust gas from the internal-combustion engine consists of a mixture of zirconium oxide and one complex metal oxide selected from the complex metal oxide shown by chemical formula: YMnO<SB>3</SB>, the complex metal oxide shown by general formula: Y<SB>1-x</SB>Ag<SB>x</SB>MnO<SB>3</SB>(wherein 0.01≤x≤0.30) and the complex metal oxide shown by general formula: Y<SB>1-x</SB>Ag<SB>x</SB>Mn<SB>1-y</SB>A<SB>y</SB>O<SB>3</SB>(wherein A is one metal selected from the group consisting of Ti, Ce and Ru; 0.01≤x≤0.30; 0.005≤y≤0.30).
