PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator preventing peeling or damage of permanent magnets and coils. SOLUTION: The linear actuator 1 is provided with: a rod 2; a field magnet 3 provided with a plurality of permanent magnets 4 and held on the rod 2; and a plurality of coils 6 held on a coil holding member 5 disposed so as to face the field magnet 3. The linear actuator 1 generates a thrust force for relatively displacing the rod 2 and the coil holding member 5 in an axial direction. The linear actuator 1 is provided with: a bottomed cylindrical outer tube 7 having a bottom portion 7a coupled to the one end 2a of the rod 2 and housing the coil holding member 5 in it inside; and an inner tube 8 slidably inserted into the outer tube 7 and having one end 8a on the outer tube side coupled to the coil holding member 5.
