Vinyl halide polymer and copolymer compositions comprise the polymer or copolymer and a sulphur-treated hydrocarbon extract of average molecular weight 200 to 800 obtained by extracting a mineral oil fraction or residue with a polar solvent or a mixture of solvents, one at least being polar and treating the extract at 150 DEG to 300 DEG C. for up to 60 hours with not more than 15 per cent of its weight of sulphur. Specified copolymer ingredients are vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, methyl acrylate and vinylidene chloride. Additions may be dibutyl phthalate, lead silicate and ethyl palmitate. Specified solvents are furfural, alcohols, phenols, sulphur dioxide alone and a benzene-sulphur dioxide mixture. Specifications 573,878 and 606,099 are referred to. |
