[Class 100 (i)] Apparatus for delivering sheets from a printing or like machine to a pile B comprises chain gripper-devices 2, 2a which carry the sheets to the pile, suction-devices which engage the rear edges of the sheets to retard their motion, and nozzles which direct a current beneath the sheets so as to smooth them out and facilitate the drying of the impressions. The suction-devices consist of a number of rollers 5a mounted on a hollow shaft 5 through which suction is applied and which is rotated at a slower speed than the gripper chains 2, through a sprocket 6 engaging one of the chains and coupled to the shaft 5 by a belt- and-pulley drive 5c, 6a, 7. The nozzles 9 are mounted on a hollow tube 8 through which the pressure air is supplied, the tube 8 and the shaft 5 being carried by two side brackets a<1> which are slidable along rails A for adjustment purposes.
