PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for designing a unit building, which can prevent a decrease in the efficiency of manufacture of a building unit when an attic space-type building is designed, and which can facilitate the management of the designing of the building unit. SOLUTION: This method for designing the unit building is employed to design the unit building 1 in which the building with a plurality of stories is constructed by vertically and horizontally combining the plurality of building units 3 and 4 with a rectangular parallelepiped-shaped framework together, and in which a sloped roof 6 is installed on the upper-story building unit 4. The height dimension of the upper-story building unit 4 and that of the lower-story building unit 3 are set identical with each other. At least some of the lower-story building units 3 are arranged separately from each other on the right and left sides on the basis of positions of both ends of the sloped roof 6, respectively. Gaps 31, which are formed depending on the slope of the sloped roof 6 between the lower-story building units 3 arranged separately from each other on the right and left sides, are closed with joint members 33 and 34, respectively.
