PURPOSE: A breaking apparatus is provided to apply transverse force to a brittle material substrate along the scribing line on the brittle material substrate evenly by forming both sides of left and right skirt pieces in longitudinal direction continuously. CONSTITUTION: A break bar(B) of a breaking apparatus comprises a bar body(8) and both sides of skirt pieces(9). The bar body is made of an elongated hard member and a tip contact portion(8a) is formed in the front end of the bar body. The both sides of skirt pieces is attached in the bar body. The tip contact portion is inserted between the skirt pieces and expanded outward. The front end portion of the skirt pieces are projected longer than the tip contact portion in a pressing direction. |
