The device (1) has a support body (10) i.e. bar, arranged in a chamber (3) i.e. cylindrical pipe, of a housing for rotatably retaining a vane wheel (15), where a medium flows through the chamber. A pulse generator is retained by the vane wheel. A pulse detector is arranged in the body such that a transmission of a pulse from the pulse generator to the pulse detector towards a longitudinal axis of the chamber is carried-out. The pulse generator and the pulse detector are arranged one behind the other. The pulse generator is designed as a ring or plate-shaped bi- or multi-polar magnet (20). The pulse detector is designed as a magnetic field sensor such as a hall sensor (30).
