According to one embodiment, An image processing method includes: estimating a composition of image data, for each piece of image data received in a temporal order to calculate a reliability indicating likelihood of the composition estimated; determining whether the composition estimated is different from a composition previously used which is a composition to be used for image data previously received and whether the reliability is equal to or higher than a predetermined first threshold, and updating a composition to be used to the estimated composition when the estimated composition is different from the composition previously used and compositions having the reliability equal to or higher than the first threshold are received successively equal to or more than a predetermined first number of times; and calculating an intensity at which a sharpening process of the image data is performed based on the composition to be used.
