<p>The invention relates to an airplane passenger seat which, in case of airplane crash, can achieve, by means of a manual or automatic command given by the crew staff, the attenuation of the passenger's impact with the ground, and to a method for actuating the said seat. According to the invention, the seat has some resting pins () wherein there is mounted a shock damping system and a rigid plate () is mounted under a seating support () for the passenger (), upon command the said plate () being pushed upwards by a spring () taking over two handles () to form a stool (), under the seating support () there being placed a mini compressor () provided with a micro processor () and a compressor (), placed under a seat () mounted on a floor (), in a pocket () of a back rest () of the seat () there being provided a supplementary passenger's head protection system upon impact with the ground, said system comprising an umbrella-shaped shield () made of a resistant material. The method, as claimed by the invention, consists in actuating the compressor () which produces pressurized air and pushes the seat () up, after which there is released a spring () which pushes up the rigid plate (), which removes the side parts and the cover of the seat (), to which there are attached two handles () so as to form a stool () which, as a consequence of a command, is pushed up in the air and, by means of an independent system for airplane positioning as against the ground, the microprocessor () is activated before impact of the airplane with the ground, said microprocessor () actuating the mini compressor () which provides pressurized air in order to drive upwards the stool () on which the passenger () is seated.</p> |
