The ascender (10) has a fixed metal body (12) made of aluminum and provided with a spout for passage of a cord (11). A movable trigger (13) is pivotally mounted around a transversal axis of the body between an inactive position in which the cord is introduced in the spout, and an active position in which the cord is blocked at bottom of the spout. The trigger includes a cam-shaped surface in contact with the cord. An internal wall of the spout is covered by an anti-wear unit made of material different from the aluminum and formed of a metal sheet connected on the wall by assembly pins.
