PURPOSE: A power saving system for a controlled device using data packet detection and a method thereof are provided to block or unblock power supplied to a first controlled device or second controlled devices according to a result of comparison between an accumulative value of detected data packets and a given reference value. CONSTITUTION: Second controlled devices receive a data packet which is transmitted by a first controlled device. Each second controlled device includes a plurality of electrical devices. A packet detection unit (130) senses a data packet which is transmitted between the first controlled device and the second controlled devices. A power outlet switching unit (120) blocks or unblocks the power of the first controlled device or the second controlled devices according to a result of comparison between an accumulative value of the detected data packets and a given reference value. A control unit (170) controls the packet detection unit and the power outlet switching unit.
