PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing positional deviation of a toner image caused by loosening and distortion of driving means of an intermediate transfer body, and sagging and elongation of the intermediate transfer body that are accumulated during a previous rotation operation, without substantially extending a time period from reception of a print signal to primary transfer of a print image.SOLUTION: During a time period from when a developing device is made possible of development to an image carrier during execution of an image formation mode, to when a toner image to be transferred on a recording material is primary transferred from an image carrier to an intermediate transfer body of an image forming unit that is arranged uppermost stream in a direction of rotation movement of the intermediate transfer body among a plurality of image forming units, toner patches are formed on at least one or more image carriers in image forming units to supply the toner patches to a primary transfer unit. |
