PURPOSE: A flame retardant composition of an expanded polystyrene foam insulating material is provided to minimize a damage of human life and product from poisonous gas etc which is discharged in an outbreak of fire by having a function of blocking a flame on the surface of a styrofoam when exposing in a flame of the high temperature. CONSTITUTION: A flame retardant composition of an expanded polystyrene foam insulating material comprises: 20-60 weight% of maltose, 10-25 weight% of hydrophobic nanosilicate solution, 15-20 weight% of alkali metal carbonate compound, 5-15 weight% of styrene-butylene rubber emulsion, 1-3 weight% of surfactant of alkyl benzene sulfonate group, 9-17 weight% of geopolymer base on a total weight of the flame retardant composition. In addition, the expanded polystyrene foam insulating material is manufactured by treating the flame retardant composition in the particle of the expanded polystyrene foam. |
