PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stable furnace temperature control of a continuous annealing furnace without sacrificing the responsiveness of furnace temperature control more than necessary.SOLUTION: A method for designing a PID controller for the furnace temperature control of a continuous annealing furnace includes: an identification step (step S1) of preparing a plurality of actual result data based on actual results of operation obtained in different load conditions in a continuous annealing furnace to identify a furnace temperature model of the continuous annealing furnace for each of the actual result data; a selection step (step S2) of selecting a furnace temperature model of the continuous annealing furnace having a minimum gain margin among the furnace temperature models of the continuous annealing furnace having been identified for each of the actual result data in the identification step; and an adjustment step (step S3) of adjusting control parameters of a PID controller by using the furnace temperature model of the continuous annealing furnace having been selected in the selection step.
