PURPOSE: A composition for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases or immune disease is provided to suppress NO generation and to develop a therapeutic agent for treating inflammatory diseases and immune diseases caused by excessive inflammation. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating inflammatory diseases or immune diseases contains 5-10 ug/ml of a Plocamium telfairiae extract as an active ingredient. The extract is an ethanol extract. The extract suppresses the generation of IL-12, IL-6, and TNF-alpha and the activities of MAPK and NF-kappaB. The composition suppresses NO generation.
