PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic contactor capable of suppressing generation of contact sound when a movable plunger moves a contact mechanism to at least a closing position.SOLUTION: The electromagnetic contactor includes: a contact mechanism 100 having a pair of fixed contacts 111 and 112 arranged keeping a prescribed interval, and a movable contact 130 disposed so as to be freely brought close to and separated from the pair of fixed contacts; and an electromagnet unit 200 for driving the movable contact. The electromagnet unit includes: a magnetic yoke 201 for surrounding a plunger drive part; a movable plunger 215 having a distal end projected through an opening 210a formed on the magnetic yoke, and a peripheral flange part 216 formed on a projected end side; a movement regulation part for regulating the movement at a closing position and a release position of the contact mechanism for the peripheral flange part of the movable plunger; and a contact sound suppression member 240 for suppressing contact sound when the peripheral flange part of the movable plunger is abutted to the movement regulation part.
