PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that suppresses, when some of images are deleted to perform image summarization processing, the occurrence of an area that is difficult to be observed due to the deletion of the images; a program; and an image processing method.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: an image sequence acquisition unit 200 that acquires an image sequence having a plurality of images; and a processing unit 100 that performs image summarization processing to delete some of the plurality of images of the image sequence acquired by the image sequence acquisition unit 200 to acquire a summary image sequence. The processing unit 100 selects a reference image and a determination object image for the image summarization processing, sets an observation area on the determination object image, obtains a corresponding area that is an area on the reference image corresponding to the observation area on the basis of deformation information between the reference image and the determination object image, and determines whether or not to delete the determination object image on the basis of at least one of a first feature amount obtained from the corresponding area and a second feature amount obtained from the observation area. |
