PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a beta-blocker is provided to prevent and treat obesity, metabolic diseases including diabetes, caused by obesity, osteopenia, and osteoporosis. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating obesity, metabolic disease caused by obesity, or osteopenia contains 0.001-50 wt% of a beta-blocker as an active ingredient. The beta-blocker is denoted by chemical formula 1. The beta-blocker is non-selective beta-blocker. The beta-blocker is propranolol.
