PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for shortening the time required for starting reproduction after data distribution is requested in a server-client system.SOLUTION: A receiver receives digital broadcast data containing a plurality of programs. An analyzer 130 extracts, from the data received by the receiver, reproduction information containing program constitution information and synchronization information used for reproducing programs. A program acquiring section 134 acquires the designation of a program from a client device. On the basis of the reproduction information extracted by the analyzer 130, a converter 132 separates the program acquired by the program acquiring section 134 from the digital broadcast data received by the receiver and converts the program into a data format for transmission to the client device. A transmitter transmits program data converted by the converter 132 to the client device and transmits the reproduction information extracted by the analyzer 130 to the client device independently of the program data in response to a request from the client device.
