The adapter (1) is designed as a socket (4) and is fitted with a circular inner base (2) provided with four tongue shaped elements (5) protruding in a right angle from the base (2) close to its outer edge. Each of the tongues (5) has an outwards bent short extension at the top engaging with matching projections (8) located at the inner surface of the socket wall and locking the flanged upper edge of the surgical device between them.
