PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide filamentous bacterium with enhanced sucrolytic activity to plant polysaccharide, a method for preparing a degrading enzyme for plant polysaccharide using the filamentous bacterium, a method for preparing monosaccharide using plant polysaccharide as a substrate, and a plant polysaccharide saccharification method.SOLUTION: There is provided filamentous bacterium in which the expression of endoglucanase VIII is reduced or lost in comparison with that of the parent strain. The filamentous bacterium contains cellulase and/or xylanase activity further enhanced than that of the parent strain. The cellulase and/or xylanase can be efficiently produced by using the filamentous bacterium, and cellulose and/or xylan can be efficiently saccharified to produce monosaccharides. |
