PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device which is reduced in size of an occupied area.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes a document placement table 22, an automatic document processing unit (document pressing unit) 24, and a document guide member 23. The document placement table 22 consists of one rectangular glass plate, with a fixed document reading region 22A and a transported document reading region 22B formed on the plate surface. The fixed document reading region 22A is set over the whole area of the document placement table 22, while the transported document reading region 22B is set at one end of the document placement table 22. The document pressing unit 24 is openably/closably disposed above the document placement table 22, and is composed so as to hold down a document placed in the fixed document reading region 22A of the document placement table 22. The document guide member 23, which is disposed at one end side of the document placement table 22 in such a way that it can move vertically on the basis of the opening/closing action of the document pressing unit 24, picks up a document D1 transported in a document transported reading mode. |
