PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optic device that displays high-quality images.SOLUTION: A pixel 20 includes a first sub-pixel 211, a second sub-pixel 212 and a third sub-pixel 213. Each sub-pixel 21 includes a light-emitting element LED and an electrophoretic element EPD. An electro-optic device 150 includes a first substrate 80 and a second substrate 90, in which the electrophoretic element EPD comprises a pixel electrode 22 formed on the first substrate 80, a common electrode 23 formed on the second substrate 90, and an electrophoretic material 24 disposed between the pixel electrode 22 and the common electrode 23; the light-emitting element LED is formed on the first substrate 80; and the pixel electrode 22 does not overlap the light-emitting element LED in a plan view. In a monochromatic display mode, the electrophoretic element EPD is used, and in a color display mode, the light-emitting element LED is actuated to emit light. The electro-optic device functions as an electrophoretic display device in a monochromatic display mode and can display a beautiful color image without using a color filter. |
