A wireless communication device and a wireless communication method are provided to control antennas by measuring reception power before data reception is initiated and control the antennas through channel estimation while data is being received to thus shorten a processing time and optimally control the antennas simply. A reception power measurement unit(152) measures reception power corresponding to signals received for every control pattern of antennas. A channel estimating unit(154) estimates a channel of a transmission path based on a training signal. An antenna controller(156) controls the antennas based on the reception power measured by the reception power measurement unit and the channel estimated by the channel estimating unit. The antenna controller converts current control patterns into control patterns which correspond in the order starting from the largest reception power according to the reception power measurement result, and determines whether to change the current control patterns based on the estimated channel according to the converted control patterns. |
