An ice making assembly for a refrigerator is provided to prevent overflow of water within an ice tray even upper and lower trays are filled with water, since the size of internal space of the ice tray is prepared to the size of the water tank. An ice making assembly for a refrigerator comprises an ice making case(202), an ice making compartment, a water tank(210), an ice bank, an opening and closing unit. The ice making case, provided on a back side of a freezer compartment door, contours an external appearance of the ice making assembly. The ice making compartment, disposed within the ice making case, is provided with a plurality of ice trays to produce ice cubes. The water tank, disposed on an upper side of the ice making compartment, is provided with a plurality of water supply ports(214) that vertically penetrate on a lower side of the water tank to supply water to the ice trays. The ice bank, disposed on a lower side of the ice making compartment, contains the ice cubes produced by the ice making compartment. The opening and closing unit for selectively opening and closing the water supply ports of the water tank when the water tank is mounted in the ice making case, comprises an interference lever(222) protruding inwards from the ice making case, and an opening and closing lever integrated with the water tank, having one end selectively making contact to the interference lever and the other end selectively opening the water supply ports. |
