ADDITIVE FOR SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE: An additive for a secondary battery is provided to prevent gas generation of a battery and to improve safety of the battery. CONSTITUTION: An additive for a secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly comprised of an anode, a cathode, and separation films interposed between the anode and cathode. The additive removes hydrogen gas. The additive is one selected from a group consisting of MgO, SiO2 and activated carbon. The additive is included in electrode depolarizing mix and/or electrolyte. 0.1-10 wt% of the additive is included based on total weight of the electrode depolarizing mix, or 0.1-10 wt% of the additive is included based on the total weight of the electrolyte.
