The beacon i.e. radio frequency identification (RFID) beacon (10), has a fixed duplexer (22) coupled with a transmission reception antenna (23). A fixed RFID transmitter (21) is connected to the duplexer to emit an RFID interrogation. A fixed receiver (24) is coupled with the duplexer to detect the response of a RFID label. A control unit i.e. digital processor (25), controls a fixed sound transmitter (26). The control unit is coupled with receiver and to a storage unit having sequences of sound messages (25a-25d). A comparator compares successive power levels received from the RFID label. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for providing information of a carrier of a RFID label (2) a method for controlling a fixed sound transmitter.
