This device (1) for suspending an awning (2) that has a lower edge (2b) and an upper edge (2a) comprises: (i) a bearing structure (3) intended to be fixed to a wall, (ii) a shaft, connected to the bearing structure (3) by a pivot connection of axis (I), (iii) means of connection of the shaft and of the upper edge (2a) of the awning (2), (iv) means of setting the shaft in rotation with respect to the axis (I) in order to raise or lower the awning (2), characterized in that the device (1) further comprises means for blocking the lower edge (2b) of the awning (2) to halt the upward travel of said lower edge (2b) when the awning (2) is raised.
