<p>PURPOSE: A method for managing energy using a variable air volume system and an energy management device therefor are provided to save the energy consumed in a building by remotely monitoring an air conditioning facility, analyzing the data related to the collected ventilation data, controlling an optimal ventilating temperature to fit the cooling/heating load, and reducing the ventilating amount. CONSTITUTION: A method for managing energy using a variable air volume system comprises a communication module, a storage module, and a control module. The communication module communicates with one or more equipment control devices controlling air conditioning equipment and receives operational information relative to the air conditioning equipment. The storage module stores the operational information relative to the air conditioning equipment. The control module sets an effective period of the ventilating temperature control by analyzing tendencies relative to a ventilating temperature of the air conditioning equipment and the cooling/heating load. The operational information monitored by the communication module is compared to detect whether or not the ventilating temperature control of the air conditioning equipment is applied. When the ventilating temperature control is required, a control value relative to the ventilating temperature is calculated. The request to control the air conditioning equipment based on the control value is performed.
