PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling a focus are provided to perform an autofocus (AF) operation by accessing to a camera unit through one frame thread which is installed in the camera without needing to make a separate AF thread. CONSTITUTION: A display unit (160) displays an image of which the focus changes according to the direction of dragging generated after a shooting button is pushed in a preview mode. A control unit (110) controls the display unit to display the image of which the focus changes according to the direction of dragging generated after the shooting button is touched in the preview mode. A lens unit (141) captures the image. A lens drive unit (142) drives the lens unit to move following the direction of dragging generated after the shooting button is pushed in the preview mode. A sensor unit (143) converts an optical signal taken through the lens unit into an electrical signal.
