597154 Disclosed is an immunogenic composition comprising: (a) an isolated S. aureus capsular polysaccharide type 5 conjugated to a carrier protein, (b) an isolated S. aureus capsular polysaccharide type 8 conjugated to a carrier protein, and (c) at least one component selected from the group consisting of an isolated S. aureus clumping factor A (ClfA) polypeptide, an isolated S. aureus clumping factor B (ClfB) polypeptide, and an isolated S. aureus manganese transporter protein C (MntC), wherein the capsular polysaccharide type 5 is a high molecular weight capsular polysaccharide of between 70 and 800 kDa, and wherein the capsular polysaccharide type 8 is a high molecular weight capsular polysaccharide of between 70 and 700 kDa. Further disclosed is an immunogenic composition consisting essentially of: (a) an isolated S. aureus capsular polysaccharide type 5 conjugated to a carrier protein, (b) an isolated S. aureus capsular polysaccharide type 8 conjugated to a carrier protein, (c) isolated S. aureus clumping factor A (ClfA) polypeptide, and (d) an isolated S. aureus manganese transporter protein C (MntC), wherein the capsular polysaccharide type 5 is a high molecular weight capsular polysaccharide of between 70 and 800 kDa, wherein the capsular polysaccharide type 8 is a high molecular weight capsular polysaccharide of between 70 and 700 kDa, and wherein the carrier protein is CRM197.
