604039 Disclosed is a self-drilling anchoring device or bolt for fastening in rock for mining. The anchoring device includes an elongate shaft with a drill head at one end, and another end configured to connect to a drilling apparatus; and two expansion elements located on opposite sides of the drill head to each other. The drill head and expansion elements are configured to cooperatively interlock with each other via at least one first engagement portion on the drill head, each first engagement portion cooperatively fitting with a second engagement portion on an expansion element. The first and second engagement portions each include a curved inner contact surfaces configured such that relative longitudinal movement of the drill head with respect to the expansion elements displaces the entire length of the top surface of the expansion elements laterally so that the top surface of the expansion elements can provide frictional contact once inserted into a borehole.
