<p>The present invention relates to a liquid-crystal alignment material for photo-alignment which comprises a polyamic acid or derivative thereof that was synthesized from: at least one compound selected from the group consisting of tetracarboxylic dianhydrides having a photo-reactive structure and diamines having a photo-reactive structure; a tetracarboxylic dianhydride that has a specific structure but does not have a photo-reactive structure; and a diamine that has a specific structure but does not have a photo-reactive structure. The liquid-crystal display element having a liquid-crystal alignment film for photo-alignment which was formed from this liquid-crystal alignment material for photo-alignment is reduced in residual DC and can have a shortened release time. Image persistence can hence be prevented from occurring.</p> |
