A door handle assembly comprising a back plate adapted to be secured to the face of a door. The back plate has an 5 aperture through which the shank of a handle is arranged to extend and be located therein by a retaining member that engages the shank on the under surface of the back plate. A first bearing is positioned between the handle and the outer surface of the back plate and a second 10 bearing is positioned between the under surface of the back plate and the retaining member.
