PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support device, a method for controlling the same and a projection system capable of correcting trapezoidal distortion with a simple structure without deteriorating an image.SOLUTION: When a second gear 35 is rotated by drive of a right and left drive motor 26, the second gear 35 rotates (revolves) around a first gear 34. In fact, a housing 6 and a projector 1 fixed thereto rotate in a horizontal direction, a direction where a projected image on a projection surface moves from side to side, with a main axis 33 parallel to a vertical direction as a rotation axis. A support device 5 measures reception intensity of ultrasonic waves reflected from a projection surface while changing positions (inclinations) of the projector 1 and adjusts the position on the basis of a measurement result so that a light axis Ax of a projection lens 13 becomes orthogonal to the projection surface. The receiving intensity peaks when the light axis Ax is orthogonal to the projection surface and decreases as the inclination of the light axis Ax to the projection surface deviates from a right angle. |
