PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor for enabling a user to easily select an operation element and a method for selecting the operation element.SOLUTION: A portable telephone 10 includes: a display part 12 for displaying at least a part of an image including an operation element which can be selected by a user on a screen; an operation acceptance part 14 for accepting the operation of the user; a pointer display control part 16 for making the display part 12 display a pointer for operation element selection such that the point is overlapped with the image at a predetermined position of the screen; a scroll control part 18 for scrolling the image while fixing the pointer to the screen in accordance with the scroll operation of the user; and a determination part 20 for determining the selection of the operation element in the neighborhood of the pointer in accordance with the selecting operation of the user. The pointer display control part 16 releases the fixing of the pointer when the image is scrolled to the edge part. Thus, it is possible for the user to select the operation element incapable of moving to the neighborhood of the pointer in the scroll operation, and to easily select the operation element in a whole area by moving the operation element to the neighborhood of the pointer by the scroll operation.
